David,
It's both the hardware and software. Yesterday Mile and I worked with
the BrandMiester people to make a connection from DMRlink to
BrandMiester. For the first part of the testing you are now able to
connect to BrandMiester 4639 with your DV4M and it's current software.
You will hear your audio come through 2100. To connect your DV4M to
BrandMiester, you need to perform the host file edit detailed below.
This will move your DV4M from DMRPlus to BrandMiester. The edit will
work on linux as well as Windows. The location of the host file is
/etc/hosts.

We are writing new software to REPLACE the current DV4M software, at
least the DMR part. The software will allow a DV4M to connect directly
with DMRlink. From there, you can use the bridging function to go
anywhere DMRlink can take you.
