Like with some commercial systems you press the * key for PTT or some use VOX. I guess my question is has anyone tackled the phone to radio patch with Asterisk? Even though it is not widely accepted there are ways to cross connect IRLP & Echolink. Has anyone made a way to interface Asterisk to Echolink or IRLP. This could be used in emergency but I'm also thinking about a VOIP phone patch via Echolink. Example you are in an area that has an functioning Echolink node but no phone patch you connect to a remote node that cross the connection to Asterisk and then gives you dial tone. Does that make any since? An autopatch cannot be used on anything but a full duplex system for obvious reasons. The lack of autopatching and limited full duplex support in echoling and IRLP was one of the reasons we wrote app_rpt. There is no digital bridge written to bridge app_rpt, and echolink and IRLP, and due to these reasons we don't see the point in writing one.
