I am currently running asterisk 1.4 and the latest app_rpt code on some custom HW (ADI Blackfin). All seems to be working well. I have two zaptel channels configured to talk to the custom repeater ports. There is a full duplex UHF repeater on Zaptel/1 and a half duplex link radio on Zaptel/2. When I link them the I do not get a courtesy tone on the main repeater when someone on the link releases PTT. Is this normal? I had to write my own Zaptel driver to control the HW so maybe I missed handling of a signal or something. If I knew that this worked on other setups it would help me determine where my issue is. Users coming in over the link do not generate a courtesy tone. This is a linking standard we use in the southwestern United States (Cactus Intertie, Calnet, WinSystem etc.). It would depend on codecs used, processor cache, RAM, and processor type. I'd just try a machine and if it runs out of gas, upgrade it. I would not waste my time with anything under 1Ghz. Each channel uses a thread, and if the threads are not managed at the linux kernel level, two processors would be a waste. Eric Fort wrote: > How would dual processor affect this? I see LinkComm has announced their proprietary VOIP controller: "link Comm RLC digital". I saw the ad for it in this month's QST. The ad claims they will have a demo at Dayton. There is no info on the linkcomm site about it yet. This has got to be expensive! Steve.
