I do not know very much about linux, but at least I know how to use sudo and vi :-) My allstarlink installation will have to run in a virtualisation on my windows 2000 server (the server shows himself at http://dk5ras.dyndns.org/Server.jpg, the black box with blue LED :-) - w2k ist mandatory due to other apps, and a second machine would waste energy and produce heat. Up to now I am just thorough the installation, it runs without any problems, and the USB audio device is recognized. When I have a free weekend with rainy weather I will go on trying to hook the radio to the beast and try configuring the basic features. First tasks will be to make allstarlink and echolink work, then later maybe a phone patch... Ralph, dk5ras. CoWC is called "waf" here, "wife acceptance factor" *g* The shown installation should not be increased... Limey linux has a C compiler built in. As long as ./configure passes for socat, then you can compile it on the target machine, and install it in /usr/local/sbin or /usr/local/bin. Do a svcfg to save the contents of /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/sbin so it comes back across power cycles. This will not work if your package requires things like perl, c++, tcl, or python. There is only bare-bones development abilities available (just enough to install Asterisk and Zaptel). Steve WA6ZFT From dale at nap.us.com Sat Jul 4 19:00:20 2009 From: dale at nap.us.com (Dale J. Did you take a look at the config.log as it asked? You might be able to tweak the configure script to avoid this error. BTW: I'm using ubuntu 8.10 to do all the development work, but Ubuntu 9.04 is probably OK as well (never tested it though). Makeinfo is a package you need to install. Type it at the CLI and ubuntu might tell you how to install it. There will be other packages you will probably find out you need as well. I invoked the makeinfo command and installed the package specified in the error (Texinfo). Now when I invoke makeinfo from the command line i get a 'parameter missing' error as I would expect. However, the build script still tells me that I have no makeinfo! And yes I know that cpp is the preprocessor and has nothing to do with C++. I also know that it exists on the LL box. As far as compiling the app directly on the LL box: What appears to be the root cause of the configuration failure is the absence of a kernel limits.h file. when I remark out the "# include " line in the file /usr/include/bits/local_lim.h the ./configuration command completes without errors. Running a make nets a couple of 'unused variable' warnings before bailing out with 6 'dereferencing pointer to incomplete type' errors. my assumption is that the type is defined in the missing file. 73 Dale NV8U Stephen Rodgers wrote: > Dale J. My next dumb question, for the COS, what is it triggered by? Looking at the diode, keep in mind I'm no expert at electronics, I would think it's triggered by ground. Ground goes on the cathode side right? But testing the connections on my adapter from dealextreme, it has volume buttons, it connects that pin to aprox 3.3v. Is this I/O pin capable of either one? Or am I just really that confused? On my radio I hace ground output for COS or aprox. +5v for CTCSS. I'd rather use the COS if the software can decode and encode the CTCSS for me. Also, does the software support multiple CTCSS tones like a community tone panel? Could I maybe configure multiple nodes (with different tones) and set them to the same usb device? It would be useful for giving groups their own tone, then if I had a problem I could disable that group. Should I be worried about someone accidentally hitting that volume down button and sending 3.3v back to the radio? I don't know if there will be a difference, but this time I am making all of the circuits external. I'm using a little radio shack project board instead of trying to cram it all in the usb housing. Ley me meak a (rash) assumption that you want the tones to come out of the transmit port. The keys in iaxrpt do not send any DTMF over the Internet connection, instead, it sends out of band commands representing the dtmf digits. app_rpt does not normally convert these into back dtmf tones when it receives them from iaxrpt, instead it trys to make sense of what was sent to see if a valid command can be parsed. That is not to say that that the out of band commands cannot be re-converted back into DTMF in app_rpt, but you have to tell it explicitly to do that. If you are interfacing app_rpt to a multiport analog repeater controller used in an RF linked system, you probably want to experiment with the following settings in the node stanza. duplex = 0 ; No duplex, no response propagate_dtmf = yes ; Propagate non-function DTMFdigits linktolink = yes inxlat = #56,#57,0123456789ABCD ; string xlat radio port to sys outxlat = *7,*0,0123456789#ABCD ; string xlat from link to sys All of these with the exception of propagate_dtmf are documented at http://app-rpt.qrvc.com/node/83 propagate_dtmf sounds like what you need to enable, but it probably won't work as you want it to without the other settings as well. After looking at the board a little more I realized it was a simple mistake I made. In the pdf file it shows the RX Audio wire going to the mic connector soldered to the center pin closest to the edge of the board. On the adapter I have, because it's all surface mount, there is a connection on both sides of the connector, so I soldered to the outside one like the picture showed. Unfortunately, there's really no connection there, it's just a solder pad to hold down that side of the connector. So after resoldering the wire to the inside middle connection all seems to be well. The line above reserves DTMF 5 for macros, so all macros start with *5 Therefore, in the macro stanza if you have the following: 1 = *954*89*931001# ; All links off (local only mode 2 = *954*9532000*9532011*989132*89*931000# ; Site normal 3 = *955*89*931002# ; Restore all links *51 will execute the all links off macro, *52 will execute the site normal macro, and *53 will execute the restore all links macro. I'm using a Motoroa Radius setup, and although the accessory pin output is discriminator, It is muted with the squelch on the radio. Does anybdy know a way around this? Is there a way to keep that pin from being muted? The ther option, which I can't seem to find info on, is simply using the cor pin. How would I go about configuring a node for COR. And my last dumb question... For the moment I'm trying to set this up without alstarlink. How should I set this up so it's not trying to connect to allstarink? Ok, now for the background of the setup because I know people are going to ask. I'm using the ACID install with a modified CM108 USB device. I hooked the device up to a Windows PC to test the audio. I could indeed hear (by raising the MIC volume all the way up) audio from the radio, but no noise when there is no transmission. That's how I know it's muted with the squelch on the radio. I could also play a sund clip I recorded over the radio if I held the PTT key on the mic. So I know the audio is all working. And in asterisk CLI I did "radio tune txvoice" and the radio keyed up perfectly fine and transmitted the tone. So all I have left is to figure out how to get the raw unsquelched noise, or use the COR line from the radio. As for the radio, if there are any motorola peple here, I d have the software and a home made cable that works. So I have gone into the accessory config and changed the pin setup to fit my needs. Figured I'd throw that in before anybody asks. If you get a used radiio you never know what the last person did with the config. I am using the COR output from the kenwood. it is open collector and active low. I'm trying to figure out how to make the repeater play a sound file when enableing or disableing things. Right now it just says the letters one at a time, like RPTENA or TOTENA/TOTDIS. I would like it to be able to play a custom sound file (if it exists) in the sounds/rpt directory. I tried playing around with the source code a bit to make this happen for the last 3 hours, but I failed. Surprisingly I didn't run into many errors compiling (I did fix the ones I got), but I just couldn't get it to play anything. Any ideas? How to cleanly implement: Look for a file stem in /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/rpt/cop with the same name as the COP neumonic and play that file if it exists. (eg rptena.ulaw, rptdis.gsm, etc). There is already a piece of code you could steal which does just this when announcing node names called saynode() which could be copied and modified to do the a similar sort of thing with cop neumonics. This saycop() function would attempt to look up a substitute sound file and play the neumonic if one isn't found. If you get it working, I'd like to have a look at your code and if it is cleanly done, merge it in to the source repository. There are not enough programmers on this project to support all the ideas and things everyone wants. I have everything working - BUT... when it comes to outbound calls, the PTT on the local (simplex) radio is kept keyed, which prevents any local traffic from being sent over the radio to the remote callee. I'm wondering whether the PTT can be dropped on a simplex node? Cheers, Ramesh. Message-ID: <4A7306AB.1060307@cogeco.ca> For a simplex node you must tell the usb fob or URI that you are connected to a simplex radio (not a full duplex radio like a repeater). Otherwise the moment it receives a signal it will attempt to key the same radio because it thinks it full duplex. So in usbradio.conf set duplex=0 for simplex radios. Also in rpt.conf you must tell App-rpt that you are running in half duplex node so you must state in the node stanza duplex=0. If you dont it will assume you are connected to a repeater. So I dont think its a bug it just needs to be configured correctly. Hope this helps. So with duplex=0, the patch does not work, there is no PTT activity on the local transmitter - yet remote transmitters (i.e., nodes that are connected to me) do have their TX keyed (regardless of whether they are half-duplex or full-duplex). I changed duplex=1; no difference. Changing duplex=2, did the trick - there was PTT activity on the local transmitter and my own audio was also going out over the local transmitter (plus remotes as well) - no problem there. I need to experiment a bit further to see whether I can sustain the duplex=2 setting with an external repeater controller, or whether I have to say b'bye to the controller and connect the app_rpt box directly to the repeater. This also leads me to believe that a simplex node (duplex=0) will not work with an auto-patch. Can someone confirm this? Also, is anyone using duplex=2 with an external repeater controller? Thx!
