well. first of all I can tell you not to waste your time with an old Celeron
at 800 MHz with chan_usbradio. Get an Intel ATOM 330 motherboard of some
sort. They are very inexpensive and very powerful and consume a TINY amount
of power (like 20-25 watts for an entire system). There is little point anymore in
running a power-hungry older system, even if it has a CPU that is powerful enough
(which certainly does not include the one that you are proposing here).
Use the FT897 or FT857. They kick ass! The ICOM has issues with transmit PL
in FM modes, and is a pain in the (well, you know where..) to configure for that purpose.
BTW, what kind of ICOM hardware do you currently have??
Take a look at (all) the stuff on http://beta.allstarlink.org. Thats what the new
system will be in the VERY near future. See the "getting started", "about" and the
"support" pages and it will explain a lot of different things.

> Hello to all, new user to the list and new to the app_rpt. Looking at the possibility of implementing this as a replacement to our aging ACC RC-96 controller and had a few questions. We are presently 1 repeater with a remote base and autopatch (ACC and icom solution but looking at a new remote base radio either the ic-706 or ft-897 solution as the icom hardware we have now dosen't look like it will interface), what would we need to get off the ground computer hardware wise with the option to add in our 6m and 440 repeaters in the near future?, so 4 usb adapters to make it happen. Also looking at a proof of concept type thing to our memebers and I have a eee pc 900 mhz celeron system, would this be enough to run 2 usb dongles? One for a portable repeater and 1 for the remote base interface? Just trying to price things out. I've been looking at a atom fanless dual core system as the primary system if it would have enough horsepower to run the 4 usb
> interfaces. This looks to be a solution to my controller issue as I can customize alot of the things I wanted to do in software vs having to do it in hardware with a new controller. I figure I'll have lots more questions and such. I didn't see a real good pc hardware guide for what all would work vs not and such. Also i see the remote access app for windows, is there something similar for a windows mobile phone? Lastly is there a way to tie in a weather alert rx to send out weather notices and trigger events and such? If so this is a perfect solution for our repeater controller replacement project.
