There was discussion about this in Jan 2010 . (thanks google)
I do not know if it is related to your question, but I want the Host name to
show up on my router.
For that to happen, I had to change the host name in:
etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
and re-boot.

I have issued my last grep for the distinctive name that I set with the
'hostname' command and throw myself at the mercy of the *nix wizards. The
name that I set is not stored in /etc/sysconfig/network, not stored in
/etc/hosts, it just exists in the ether apparently.
Now I find out that the hostname used by Allstar is stored in
/etc/asterisk/system.conf (IIRC) which remained untouched, of course.
I've just got to know now, even though it seems that things are sort of
working OK after an initial hiccup.
