You'll need mpg123 installed and a feed to point to it, I do this for the music on hold on my main PBX all the time. Create or edit a file called musiconhold.conf and include the following as a sample: [default] mode=custom application=/usr/bin/mpg123 -q -s --mono -r 8000 -f 8192 -b 0 http://scfire-ntc-aa05.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1074 This example is for the .977 hitz Shoutcast stream. An example dialplan config would look like this (in extensions.conf): [my-nasa-feed-or-whatever-you-decide-to-call-it] exten => 1000,1,MusicOnHold(default) In a nutshell this is how you could accomplish it, hopefully I didn't miss anything so I don't make any guarantees, YMMV ;) If you can get it going let us know, I looked around to see if there was a feed being broadcast and couldn't find one but I didn't look in any great detail. You could also rename your MusicOnHold class to say, NASA and just refer to it accordingly in your dialplan. Certainly no issue from the IRLP side of things. You need to make a change to the IRLP node's environment file. ALLOW_EXPERIMENTAL=YES if my rusty memory is working. Can't easily double check at this time. :( I think you also need to let Dave Cameron know the IP address or hostname of the experimental system (i.e. the AllStar node/conference). Finally, on the AllStar side of things, you would need to use a version that has IRLP support (i.e. rather old now), or use thelinkbox to accept the incoming IRLP connections and pass audio to the AllStar node. 73 de VK3JED / VK3IRL http://vkradio.com From bob at w5evh.org Tue Aug 7 06:06:41 2012 From: bob at w5evh.org (Bob Roszkowski) Date: Tue, 7 Aug 2012 01:06:41 -0500 Subject: [App_rpt-users] HP t5720 Thin Client / AllStar config recommendations for audio problems. Message-ID: Does anyone have any configuration hints to get an HP T5720 (1GHz processor/ 1GB Ram/ 8GB HD) with a URI to work with AllStar? I setup a node but I am having some issues. It seems that the machine is just not fast enough or I have too many services running. The audio sounds very bad once and a while. If I send a command for Say Time, it will sometimes come back sounding very bad. Then if I do it again, it sounds ok. Hard to describe how it sounds, my best guess would be that it is lacking resources. Also, I am noticing that during one of the nets today, the system was not passing audio in either direction. Then it started working. Strange problem. I know internet connection is good and tried it at two different sites/ISPs. Are there things I can check, enable, disable or otherwise? Since there is no real Hard Drive in the system, it is using a DOM, is there anything I need to set different? We currently have it set up for the repeater to do the repeating and the tone. We the the URI/allstarlink set up on duplex=1 so we can change the beep the the roger beep. I also have it set to linktolink = yes. Question is when we access the auto patch it appears its only in 1/2 duplex because it appears when the person is talking on the phone and has the repeater key'd up you can't issue a disconnect command. Example. for some reason we lose connectivity to allstarlink servers for what ever reason about every 24-48 hours which makes the webtrans not work . Normally i just reboot the machine and everything comes back fine. I noticed today before i left work our node wasn't listed again, but figured i would just fix it when i got home. On the way home i tried to connect to another allstarlink node and said connection failed, but ECHOLINK stations worked fine. SO i thought i would call home then right quick on the auto patch. WHen i did i got the loud noise of a busy signal, but since the repeater was keyed up it would not accept a *0 command or any command to disconnect the auto patch until i got home and restarted asterisk. Then of course i had to restart the box and then everything went back to normal. First question does anyone else have a problem of their all-star box needing rebooted like that every couple of days? 2nd any for the way i have it set up to get full duplex on the auto patch so if this happens again we can shut the auto patch. I am sure everyone is saying why not let the computer do the controlling. Which i have no problem doing that, but it appears i can't stay connected full 24/7 for some reason to the allstarlink servers and with having to reboot the computer from time to time i can't keep the repeater up 100% in that type of configuration. I am new to the LOX and Allstar, so sorry if this sounds like a bad question, but I would expect if I key the radio Allstar would key up when carrierfrom=usb is selected to look for the PTT from the controller on the COR line of the LOX? I am listening via WebTransceiver if that matters. Mike Kb8zgl -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I figured out how to get a feed. I'd have used my windows machine to push a feed to my icecast server by playing the nasa video feed and recording the "what you hear" from my sound card :). poor mans live audio feed. So that part was no problem. What I fail to grasp it how I would have hooked this up in allstar to the radio side of things. In what file would I have placed your comments below?? And how would I have brought that audio into one of my nodes? On the surface I'm assuming that I'd need a private node for 1000 and then I would have linked that in? But that may not be how you do it. Any help appreciated. Just so I can do this again if so desired. Easy, use the music on hold function. Hope that helps.. 73 Stephen K1LNX From: app_rpt-users-bounces at ohnosec.org [mailto:app_rpt-users-bounces at ohnosec.org] On Behalf Of Alan Adamson Sent: Sunday, August 05, 2012 2:44 PM To: 'Allstar User' Subject: [App_rpt-users] Nasa Select via music on hold? It should be though, there are several software packages out there that actually depend on a radio being connected. Native bridging? I don't think that will be easy. There's a product out there that will allow you to hook a radio to it and then bridge it to the TRBO network, but it's not cheap (about $2,600). Motorola is also very tight lipped about their protocol. I am working on getting accepted into the developer's program, but if I do get in I have to sign an NDA and I don't think I can make anything I potentially create open sourced because of it. I think there are people that have done what I describe above though, seems like I've heard some chatter about it. Believe me.... I would LOVE to see a "chan_trbo" or better yet a "chan_dmr" and be able to link both Hytera and MOTOTRBO together in a app_rpt box, but the nature of the closed IPSC protocols for both may prevent that from happening. It's not impossible, the protocol could easily be studied with a packet dump, but would probably take some serious code to make it all work. The bigger problem with all this is that the MOTOTRBO network operators (DMR-MARC, DCI, etc) may frown on such an installation. This is the reason I have not pursued this myself yet, there is a strong (and rightfully so) belief to keep the network all MOTOTRBO. Wishful thinking anyhow.... Oh, and as for MotoTurbo, I'm afraid it's going to be short lived. Most all the States around here are not granting licenses for anything more than 20-25W on the commercial side. Seems the TDMA causes wicked sideband interference to adjacent channels. It's an intrinsic problem that I don't think can be remedied. Plus I really like being 6.25khz wide NOW, which obviously turbo isn't. it's still a 12.5khz signal that just happens to have 2 TDMA channels running inside of it. :) Alan From: Kirk Just Kirk [mailto:wb6egr at gmail.com] Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2012 8:30 PM To: app_rpt-users at ohnosec.org; adamson_alan at hotmail.com Subject: Re: [App_rpt-users] d-star? (ie, through the ethernet jack?) Or is simply just cross-connected to Allstar? If so, you are just creating another connection to an analogue network. What would be interesting is an NXDN Network with a hook to Allstar. There is a group looking at interfacing NXDN to D-STAR. I'm not suggesting, recommending or endorsing a TRBO to DSTAR Bridge, patch or intertie. Merely mentioning that it would be nice to use the local slot on my 8400 linked into allstar NOT $star. As others paved the way before I did, I'm finding that using allstar to link analog machines via private WLAN seems to be a great way to build a system. Having a TRBO node would be nice. Allstar has been so nice I'm considering dumping echolink connects all together since 98% of them sound horribly OVERDRIVEN and just crappy. And yes the folks at dmr-marc, dci and trbo6 don't want analog on their systems. My machine is linked to others in the state for emcom so being able to tie analog to digital is a good option to have. Connecting an XPR4550 to a URI on a digital channel sounds NASTY. Tried it, the only way to go would be via IPSC which probably isn't going to happen. 73 de K0JSC ________________________________ From: Kirk Just Kirk [mailto:wb6egr at gmail.com] Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2012 6:43 PM To: Stephen - K1LNX Cc: app_rpt-users at ohnosec.org Subject: Re: [App_rpt-users] d-star? I can't talk for kenwood, I don't have any of theirs. Icom repeaters are approx $700 - all you need is a UR-FR6000 (or 5000 if you want vhf), I've picked those up for that price and less a few times. That's everything with controller, add duplexer, power supply and antenna and you are on the air. Those are 25w 100% duty cycle repeaters. While the HT's are a bit expensive, the mobiles are cheaper than d-star mobiles. NXDN is quite good at extending the footprint of an analog system. I can't speak for the other commercial gear, but for NXDN, that's 1/2 the price of a d-star repeater, way better equipment, and you can do both 25khz FM and 6.25 digital on them so transition for a user base is extremely easy. Ok, I suppose we better turn this back to app_rpt talk and not create another repeater builder. If anyone want NXDN info, contact me off list. Oh, and for the question, yes, you can do native IP based NXDN linking. my repeaters in Atlanta, are linked to Ohio and to FLA. And while not too flexible at the moment, we are working on that. Lastly, aside from the DVSI chip, which everyone else uses as well, the nxdn specs were just released a month ago, which opens all kinds of possibilities. Doing nxdn to dstar.. why bother, scrap the dstar gear and just get nxdn gear, that's what quite a number of places are doing!.... If you want perm connect use *83(node) to connect it. And to brake the connection use *81(node). If the internet is bad it may disconnect but it will reconnect as soon as it is able with no announcement. If a node is connected via perm connection, normal disconnect like *1(node) or *10 wont work. You must use the Perm disconnect if connected with perm connect. You're going to write 4 shell scripts: #1: Disconnect via 81 #2: Connect via 83 #3: Disconnect via 31 to echolink #4: Connect via 33 to echolink All are of the format: -- #!/bin/bash /usr/sbin/asterisk -rx "rpt cmd node_from ilink [83|81|33|31] node_to#" -- Then edit your crontab (as root) to run the scripts at the proper time. 29 07 * * 1-5 /wherever_you_place_your_script/name_of_script_1.sh 30 07 * * 1-5 /wherever_you_place_your_script/name_of_script_4.sh 00 08 * * 1-5 /wherever_you_place_your_script/name_of_script_3.sh 01 08 * * 1-5 /wherever_you_place_your_script/name_of_script_2.sh I left a minute between each pair, just because I don't like executing simultaneous scripts that change the state of the system multiple states in parallel. That's just me. Make sure you have a line of MAILTO="" at the top of your crontab unless you like getting an email message every time a script is executed. Oh, and make sure the scripts you write have perms of 755 (RWXR-XR-X) or equivalent. There are other ways, especially if you've assigned DTMF functions to these individual scripts in the rpt.conf file... As always, there are multiple ways to do it. All you can do is what you feel comfortable working with that works. -- Bryan In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. The converted AMBE audio from the Dongle back to analog heading into Allstar is just *way* too HOT (over modulated, loud, etc). I need to somehow lower the level/volume etc. I don't think there is any parameter that would allow this. it's coming into allstar via the chan_dstar module. It's IP port to IP port between the dongle and the channel driver, so in theory, I could use software in the middle if I could find something like sox or the like that would run in real-time and take packets in one port and out another. I only need it to go on way however. the opposite direction isn't a problem. So just curious if anyone else has seen anything that might work? If len is not specified, is is taken to be from the start to the end of the string. As shown in the code, ${2:0:1} will return the first character of the string; therefore, if $2 == 43340, then ${2:0:1} will return 4 (the first character of the string). ${2:1} will return 3340 (everything after the first character). The case statement makes it very easy to have a number of choices where only one choice runs. Either that or string together a lot of if..elif..else..fi rubbish. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... If its not forwarding port 4569 UDP properly, despite it says it is, then you wont be able to connect to any one. As you said if you move the node to the DMZ then it works. I have seen routers do this over a period of time. Perhaps a router reboot will help. Also I have seen in the past some nodes dont seem to get the node lists for a while. If the node you are trying to connect to isn't in your node list or the list is stale, then you wont be able to connect. Also if your node isn't in the extnode list that gets pushed out then nobody else can connect to you because you don't exist as far as they are concerned. You can look in the extnodes list to see if the node you want to connect to is there. Its located at: /var/lib/asterisk/rpt_extnodes If all was working in the past then I'm thinking you router may be on its way out. You can monitor the traffic on port 4569 to see if the stat packets are going out and receiving the ack by running this command at the root prompt: tcpdump udp port 4569 -ni eth0 Use CTL C to stop monitoring. If you dont see the ack in bound to port 4569 then it could be your router. As for the stat reporting, normally when a node is off line and goes on line the node must report to the stat page at regular times. And it must get the extnode file on a regular basis. As it was said you must wait for the node list to be pushed out to all the nodes before you exist to them. My experience is 10 -15 min but it varies. Use the TCP dump to confirm this is going on. Hope this helps. Jon VA3RQ On 8/25/2012 12:27 AM, Jim W7RY wrote: > You are.. It has been on line for 2 days. Message-ID: Hello, Is it possible to pass the dialed DTMF command to a script? For example, here's my command in rpt.conf: 88=cmd,/usr/test $dmtf If I dial *123#456, I'd like app_rpt to call my script "test" and pass along #456. My script could then process the digits dialed. It would also be ok if it passed the entire string along (*123#456). Allstar connects work very well, but I'm having no success with Echolink. Ports are forwarded correctly and I've reviewed the Echolink.Conf file which is precisely in line with documentation. One error I've noted seems to be a segmentation error: "/usr/sbin/safe_asterisk: line 125: 1921 segmentation failure Asterisk ended with Exit status 139 Asterisk exited on signal 11" Also, I've noted that, since installing the Acid distro yesterday, I can no longer connect to my Echolink "-L" while in Echolink user mode on another machine. I decided to take the VM / HUB approach to familiarize myself with Allstar before implementing my nodes on a separate machine with a URI or FOB. On the virtual machine I also noted an error that appears when I access Devices - Network Adaptors. I receive the error "Failed to access the USB subsystem. Could not find the host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). I don't know if this relates to the aforementioned problem with Echolink or not. Any suggestions are appreciated by this newbie. 73 Chris KB1RXA From wl7ni.ak at gmail.com Thu Aug 30 16:01:22 2012 From: wl7ni.ak at gmail.com (Mark Huelskoetter) Date: Thu, 30 Aug 2012 08:01:22 -0800 Subject: [App_rpt-users] HUB NODE/ VM / ECHOLINK In-Reply-To: <13038707.994.1346255370036.JavaMail.root@web01> References: <13038707.994.1346255370036.JavaMail.root@web01> Message-ID: How is your VM network deployed? However, the good news is you can limit who can connect! You can lock it down to certain callsigns, good for RACES group, etc? Unfortunately, despite several replies, I have the same config in echolink.conf as everyone sent me and it never shows up on Echolink. Maybe someone can catch my typo: [el0] confmode=no call=*CONFNAME* ; Change this! pwd=password ; Change this! name=Allstar 27408 ; Change this to your real name! qth=Allstar 27408 ; Change this to your actual QTH! email=kb8zgl at kb8zgl.net ; Change this! maxstns=5 rtcptimeout=10 node=8248 ; Change this! (Could this be my issue? Maybe I need to pad the zeros like Allstar does?) recfile=/tmp/recorded.gsm astnode=27408 ; Change this to your active Allstar node number! context=radio-secure server1=naeast.echolink.org server2=nasouth.echolink.org server3=servers.echolink.org freq=1 ; Freq in MHz tone=0 ; CTCSS Tone (0 for none) lat=0 ; Latitude in decimal degrees lon=-0 ; Longitude in decimal degrees power=0 ; 0=0W, 1=1W, 2=4W, 3=9W, 4=16W, 5=25W, 6=36W, 7=49W, 8=64W, 9=81W (Power in Watts) height=0 ; 0=10' ,1=20',2=40',3=80' ,4=160' ,5=320' ,6=640' ,7=1280',8=2560',9=5120' (AMSL in Feet) gain=0 ; Gain in db (0-9) dir=0 ; 0=omni, 1=45deg, 2=90deg, 3=135deg, 4=180deg, 5=225deg, 6=270deg, 7=315deg, 8=360deg (Direction) From: app_rpt-users-bounces at ohnosec.org [mailto:app_rpt-users-bounces at ohnosec.org] On Behalf Of Bryan D. I don?t see any errors, I know chan_echolink is built in? Is there any way to check logs or what is happening? It doesn?t show up on Echolink. FYI, this is a conference (ie. *confname*). I am hoping that works ok? Any suggestions how I can troubleshoot this?
