Very odd.. My Garmin pucks did NMEA right out of the box. They also had the old (2 years ago)
firmware that "lost" a second right around XMAS/New Years. I updated them. Puck-ing things!

Well, that's great Randy glad that I was of some help.



I've seen lots of guys on sailing email lists get bit by the same thing when interfacing instruments to Garmin.

I downloaded the Garmin config program.Updated the software on the GPS 18X LVCConfigured it for NMEA output.And now it works, no error messages.


The Garmin protocol looks similar to NMEA so I didn't catch that there was a difference.
