[App_rpt-users] How to connect five nodes on different mountains connected via WLan (HamNet?

Since you don't have Internet access, the nodes can't use the Allstar
portal directory service to find the other ones.
So you need to them where each other are.

In the rpt.conf file, look for something like this:

[nodes]
; Note, if you are using automatic update for allstar link nodes,
; no allstar link nodes should be defined here. Only place a definition
; for your locak nodes, and private (off of allstar link) nodes here.

1701 = radio at 127.0.0.1:4569/1701,NONE

Let's say you have four nodes, numbered 1701-1704 (since they're
"private" nodes any numbers will do).
And you have them on IP addresses 192.168.1.201 through 192.168.1.204

Using one of the nodes as an example, make this section look something
like this:

[nodes]
; Note, if you are using automatic update for allstar link nodes,
; no allstar link nodes should be defined here. Only place a definition
; for your local nodes, and private (off of allstar link) nodes here.

1701 = radio at 127.0.0.1/1701,NONE                                ;Me,
this node at 192.168.1.201
1702= radio at 192.168.1.202:4569/1702,NONE ;My brother Daryl
at 192.168.1.202
1703= radio at 192.168.1.203:4569/1703,NONE ;My sister
Darylene at 192.168.1.203
1704= radio at 192.168.1.204:4569/1704,NONE ;My other brother
Daryl at 192.168.1.204

And then also look for this section:
; ** For ACID ***
statpost_program=/usr/bin/wget,-q,--timeout=15,--tries=1,--output-document=/dev/null
statpost_url=http://stats.allstarlink.org/uhandler.php ; Status updates

Then put a semi-colon (;) in front of each statpost statment. That stops
the node from trying to send it's status to/from the portal.

If you want them to connect together on start up, something like this
(again in rpt.conf)

Define a function for permanent connection:
[functions]
.....blah blah blah....
Add this line:
76=ilink,13            ; Make a permanent connection to a node

In the section where all the timers an such are defined add this line:
startup_macro=*761701

On start up, the node will try to establish a "permanent" connection to
node 1701.

Do this on each of the nodes, using the appropriate numbers and
addresses.
Restart.
