Hi,

Try this:
/etc/init.d/zaptel restart

Or,
/etc/init.d/zaptel stop
/etc/init.d/zaptel start

Then try the same thing with asterisk instead of zaptel.

Usually when I see the infinitely not starting asterisk, it’s because zaptel wash’ running. 

You might want to also be sure that in /etc/rc2.d and /etc/rc5.d (I forget which run leveel this version boots to), there’s and S##zaptel file, where ## is some two digit number.
