Loren, 

It's really not about what radios you have but the signal logic of the
COR line.

If the logic for your controller is low=true meaning 
a 0v or low voltage level means it is actively receiving,

The when you disconnect it,

It will be true and bring up the repeater as if it was rxing a signal
when you disconnect it because it is not getting a high level signal to
say it is inactive.

So...
when you disconnect it,
change the logic of the signal for cor input so it does not make the
controller think the rx is active after you disconnect it.

Example set the controller for high=true or a voltage level is a signal
for active rx when/after disconnecting the rx.

perhaps someone else can explain it better than I.
