hi Torben

look here : http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+config+rpt.conf

this is an exemple of rpt.conf.

in this example you will find a stanza named [nodes]

you can specify local nodes number and adress in that part of the files.

that files is located on you asterisk server at /etc/astersik/

that file wont be updated by the online update.

sorry Jim, that is too difficult for me to understand or my english is not goog enough perhaps you can explain it to me by an example

in the rpt_extnodes file are entries like

28175=radio at 84.153.183.63<mailto:28175=radio at 84.153.183.63>:4569/28175,84.153.183.63

that is my node with nodenumber 28175 and actually Ip adress 84.153.183.63

now i would like to connect to a node that is not registrated to allstarlink, so i can make a entrie like

99123=radio at 44.134.190.117<mailto:99123=radio at 44.134.190.117>:4569/99123,44.134.190.117

99123 is a phantasy node number but the 44. IP is a mesh Network ip

but this solution only runs til the next update of the rpt_extnodes file

greetings

Why would you need to do that??

The [nodes] clause in rpt.conf is "looked at" first when attempting to
determine a node's potential IP address. So, whatever you want to
override (or augment) the "normal" list of stuff, put in the [nodes]
clause in rpt.conf. That has a "custom" hook in it, so you can even
put an "extension" of the [nodes] clause in custom/rpt.conf (using the
"[nodes](+)" type of syntax.

Jim

ok, but for both possibilitys it is necassary that the "mash node" is connectet to the Internet to registrate to Allstar if my english is good enough for unnderstanding :-(

for my node this is no problme cause i have 2 NICs, one for Internet and one for Hamnet/mesh Network but some Nodes are are ONLY in the hamnet

would it be perhaps possible for the allstarcrew to include a custom_extnodes to the rpt_extnodes file ? so everyone can edit the mesh node ip adesses in the local file

greetings

Torben,

We have the same "mesh network" here in usa.

There are many ways to achieve this.

I will mention 2 in theory off the top of my head.

Either a node in your mesh network needs to have a "gateway to the internet" that you can connect to for updates

OR

A node in your mesh network that has a internet gateway needs to "get the updated node list" to "make available to those in the mesh". There are many ways to scheme this but just Change the pointed address for the node update to the address of the mesh node containing the update file.
It is possible to propagate the node list across your mesh network.

Perhaps others will chime in with other ways or more detailed methods.

hi all,
first some Background informations.
here in Germany and parts of europe there is a new Network called Hamnet. it is a wifi based Network on the hambands from 2,4 ghz and 5 ghz. there is NO interconnection between the Internet and Hamnet.
Some AllStarLink Nodes now are only avaliable inside the Hamnet, so there is no Registration in the allstarlink Network and the sysops can edit the /var/lib/asterisk/rpt_extnodes cause there are no updates from the Internet.
My node for example is available inside the Hamnet AND the Internet so the cronjob make an update of the /var/lib/asterisk/rpt_extnodes

How can i manually edit some Hamnet allstarlink nodes there ?

greetings
