Yes you are right, autopatch does not work for the Debian PC version I compiled up using 2.9 version. It is something I would rarely if ever use but as you say everything should work.
So why don't you make the patches yourself to the latest dahdi and make it part of a distribution or available for us to experiment with? Patch it, tar it up and make it available.

No, it doesnt entirely.
I am not going to get into an argument about this on this list. PERIOD.
Trust me, I, more then ANYONE ELSE ON THIS PLANET (for HOPEFULLY PAINFULLY
OBVIOUS reasons) am in a position (even WAAAYY more then Digium) to be able
to authortatively assess whether DAHDI is working properly, since I am the one
that determines what "properly" is for that technology.
Unless Digium somehow "magically" added those patches in some newer then 2.7
release (which is REALLY REALLY unlikely), it *REALLY* doesnt work fully properly.

I am using dahdi-linux-complete-2.9.0+2.9.0.1 and it works for me using simpleusb. What should I be looking for that doesn't work? I have been using this on all my RPi compiles and now Debian PC.

Hi Jim Dude!!
Nice to see your reply… ;-)
I am behind the 8 ball here as I need to catch up with this RPi thingy! I just picked one up to play with and as you may already know I have my Beagle
board set up as a repeater (On the bench as I type this…). I am looking to make an enclosure for it!
I am finding out that there are some neat gadgets out there available for us play with…
By The way… I graduated College last July and will be more active now that I only have one job to worry about! Thanks for all your help with allstar!
(Been a While since we have chatted).

Yes, well except for the fact that the stock DAHDI from Digium DOESNT WORK!!
There are a couple of patches that are necessary, one still in "evaluation".

Roger,
Everyone has the capability to compile!
I think you are talking about the PC Debian compile? I believe the ISO would exceed DVD size. I guess you could really trim it down but setting up a system for someone else to use is not a trivial task.
If anyone really wants to run on Debian I have some notes on setting it up from scratch but you still need to have a more than basic understanding of Linux and Debian in particular. You would learn a lot doing this though. Patience and persistence are required!
For those who want to try it here is the quick list:
1. Have a PC and drive you can dedicate
2. Download the Debian net installation CD (you can do this in windows)
3. Boot on the CD and install Debian (if gets the rest of the stuff via the Internet)
4. Bring up Debian and configure the system for your tastes - DHCP/static, ssh port, etc.
5. Download the kernel header files and other dependencies needed for compiling
6. Get DAHDI complete source and compile and install
7. Get asterisk/allstar source and compile and install
8. Copy over or create and configure the /etc/asterisk configuration files
Note that in steps 6 and 7 you will without doubt get errors due to the lack of required dependencies or files in the wrong place. You need to correct the problem and start the compile over.
99.99% of errors you will get are correctable with patience.
I would be glad to answer any questions anyone might have along the way.
