They have to be defined somewhere don't they? How else would you set the
pins to out0 or out1?

This format is correct:

You do not need to set-up output pins in usbradio unless you are using them
for PTT or COR etc.
The pins float when not in use and go to ground when active/on.
You may need to invert the logic and buffer to switch higher current levels.
