Check out http://hamwan.org/

While building a managed network in western Washington, the intent of
the HamWAN project is to provide a standard for operating ham
microwave networks in a way that is secure, robust, and compatible
with the Internet for services like Allstar, IRLP, Echolink, APRS-IS,
etc.

We've chosen Mikrotik hardware for its routing capability, but you
could also use modems from Ubiquiti paired with another router.
Specifically, we're using the Mikrotik Routerboard 5SHPn heavily, and
newer point-to-point links have been deployed with various 802.11ac
hardware from Mikrotik. These are typically paired with 2ft or 3ft
dishes.

If you need any help with hardware selection or configuring things,
drop into the project's IRC channel, #HamWAN on irc.freenode.org and
we'll help you out.
