Because the architecture of a mesh network is not able to deal with voip.
Brodband hamnet is attractive due to its simplicity, but it sucks to do any sort of services on as it's basically digipeating at higher speeds. Once you're a hop or two away it fails.
If you want to check out what hamwan has architected or my video on it from Dayton. A routed network is the only way to support anything needing QoS.
