A URI with an EEPROM allows you save the USBradio channel driver's working parameters for the radio connecto to the URI.   This gives you the ability to physically change the URI's USB positions to a differnt node and the radio parameters will stay with the radio and will not require you to re-calibration audio level adjustments).
