While I can't comment on that board, I might suggest, if you are just
looking for a more simple method to do a battery power that can be
recharged while live...
Look on ebay for a few items...
18650 battery holder (3 or 4 cell)

This little critter which will both charge the cells and bosst the
output from 3.7v to 5v

There are many ways of doing the same thing. This method of course does
not integrate with software to warn you about battery condition or do
automated shutdown but do you really need it ???
