[App_rpt-users] 24/7 Echolink Connection Dropping Audio (one-way)

David,

So far I've never experienced an audio issue AllStar to AllStar. Just keep in mind after you connect you may see the issue in 30 minutes, 12 hours, or 7 days. It varies.

I'm guessing the majority of nodes would be configured for 0 or 1. But I just looked, duplex is set to 2 on the hub node.

Hi Will,

My testing so far has been directed toward AllStar <--> AllStar links.

I'll try echolink too, perhaps connecting to the Georgia conference, trying to keep the comparisons as similar as possible.

BTW, just out of curiosity, what is the rpt.conf duplex= setting on the hub node??? ....I was just looking over my notes and the majority of nodes where one-way audio has been reported were configured in mode 0 or 1. ---Mostly mode 1.

Has anyone noticed one-way audio with mode 2 or 3 ????

I appreciate your response and I'll be glad to work with you any way I can. I seem to be able to re-create the problem more than I would like lol...

The issue I have is with AllStar connecting to Echolink only, and nothing to do with AllStar to AllStar or with IAX2. It's fairly easy to re-create this issue. Here's how:

1.) Enable and configure the Echolink module on any AllStar node
2.) Connect to an Echolink node that's always on, such as a conference that stays busy.
3.) Occasionally login using the Echolink app to monitor the conference. When you hear audio on the Echolink app but not on the AllStar node, that's the issue.

I'm running duplex 1 on my radio node, but I don't think duplex is a factor because I have the same issue on my Radioless hub node.

The hacking noise was directed towards SIP, but I now have SIP disabled and the logs are quite, and the issue still happens.

Thanks again David,

Hi Guys,

I've been looking for what might be causing this one-way audio issue for several months now....My frustration is that I can't seem to duplicate this problem on my systems, so far; not even once! I'm leaving IAX2 links up for days and weeks at a time, no issues found.

OKAY, all the above being said, I'm not denying this issue, I know it's real! I'm just trying to figure out why some users seem to see this daily and others (like me) can't seem to duplicate it at all.

There has got to be some underlying commonality which is causing the one-way audio to occur. Here are a couple of factors with my systems:

1) I'm running duplex=2 or duplex=3 on most systems I'm testing (so far).

2) None of these systems I'm testing are directly visible on the Internet, I'm running STRICTLY private networks. I'm using OpenVPN as my transport method across the Internet, as most of these nodes are not at the same physical location.

Will: I noticed that you mentioned that your logs were full of hacking noise--directed at IAX2, I assume??? ....Is the one-way audio perhaps some type of DoS/hacking side effect???

What duplex mode are you all running on the afflicted nodes???

I'm trying to help find a solution!
