[App_rpt-users] New install x86, commands missing

Hi folks.   I did a new install this afternoon of ASL with the 20180417 iso.   It installed a nice debian stretch OS with pieces of asterisk,  but none of the menu commands work, nor shell scripts: like astdn.sh,  nor service asterisk status...  the commands are unrecognised.

I'm logged in locally on server console as user 'repeater'.

I did  ps -aux | grep "asterisk"  and it does show that asterisk is running.

I suspect a path issue, did a "set" command and it scrolled several pages that look like python script.

Looked over the faq and troubleshooting pages on wiki, did not enlighten.  

Is there an erratta for this ISO, or am I just doing something really dumb?
