Bob, this is not a matter of ASL supporting it but rather a matter of the
underlying operating system. I can't speak to the .img that is pre-built
but I will say that if you use a vanilla version of Raspbian and go from
there (following the directions of how to setup the supplicant and all the
requisite things) then it should work....

Of course not using the supplied image also may come with it's own
challenges too...
