[App_rpt-users] CHAN_PI

The chan_pi driver first showed up in early 2016. From what I was told,
Jim coded it to work with a prototype pi-hat board that was being
developed by DMK engineering.

This pi-hat hardware included an I2C attached GPIO chip similar to an
MCP23017. There was no code to directly drive the native RPi GPIO.

As for the audio device, based on the mixer-setting code, it appears to be
the Cirrus/Wolfson WM5102 I2S audio chip or similar.

I don't think this project ever made it beyond the early prototype phase
(anyone know???). Back in that timeframe, there was major concern that
the CM108/CM119 USB chips might be on the rapid path to extinction. Now,
we know that genuine C-media CM119A and CM119B chips will continue to be
readily available....And, I expect there will be CM1xyz clones available
until the cows come home!
