Beacon IDs have been done for decades on packet, so I can't imagine it would be illegal to ID your Asterisk station (simplex node or repeater) at given intervals even if there has been no traffic on it. automatically controlled announcing the availability of the repeater / link and in most cases the repeater / link is not operating on a frequency within the groups listed under 97.203(d) the beacon would not be legal.<BR><BR>97.111(b) would be a good place to check regarding one-way communications<BR><BR>

would not be permissible unless there was already traffic on the repeater then it would just be a plain old identification.<BR><BR>
