radios just don’t produce much HF noise, even right off the
discriminator. I have a Hamtronics xtal-controlled 220 receiver (R100)
that does not make enough noise. The PLL version does. Not saying there is a
cause and effect relation – the discriminator circuit probably has a lot to do
