I didn't think of having him running dmesg. <br><br>It looks like the network is failing initialization on his system. I would have thought this would show up in the acid install but it didn't seem to. <div dir="ltr"><font style="" face="Tahoma">He has a monitor and keyboard on the acid machine, that is how I am getting the info relayed from him. The machine may not have network connectivity so no other machine would see it.<br><br>Actually anything that make this more complicated for him is out. I was really just trying to understand the error mechanism in the install package. Perhpas I should look at the install shell scripts.<br><br>Like why is he getting the test login and what errors could cause that. Nothing looks glaringly wrong in the install log.<br><br>Would a lack of network connectivity end the install in this way? Would/should there be a message that no network could be found? It does not appear there is anything in the log about it.<br><br>Again I am working at a terrible disadvantage remotely. A dmesg list would show me what is oging on with the hardware. <br>It did not show any errors on doing any of this and the last line is<br>phase1.sh done - rebooting.<br><br>So now every time it boots it comes back to the test login screen.<br><br>I suspect no network connectivity but nothing ever told us that<br>
specifically. The computer he is using work wirelessly with winxp<br>but would not work through a wired connection. We were not sure<br>if this was a hardware or windows SW problem.<br><br>I was able to get him to ping another active IP on his local network<br>
and it came back unreachable. <br><br>This is an old laptop computer and a very computer inexperienced<br>person at the other end and I am trying to do this remotely over<br>the radio. It would be a lot easier if I was there.<br>
