<div dir="ltr">Ok I can confirm that de-blobbing this CM119 chip is a no-go.  Heat gun removed the blob no worries, but removed (or destroyed) everything else as well.  Might be a good option if you wanted to desolder the entire board which it did famously, but removing the blob also removed the chip and after that of course the computer wouldn't recognise the device.  $3.50 down the flusher, oh well!<div>
