Not sure what you mean by choppy, but if the input from the internet over
drives the software gains, that could happen. Have you adjusted your
Echolink gains in echolink.conf?

I had to adjust ours as follows because incoming and outgoing seemed to be
over driven. At the suggestion of this list my first estimate was -6.0 and
0.0 respectively.

erxgain=-7.0 ;-3.0 default

etxgain=-1.0 ; 3.0 default
Anyone have any idea why audio from ECHOLINK comes in choppy i have
tried to adjust everything i could think of.. I am using xipar.. I tried it
on 2 different machines and both are choppy.. But audio form asterisk to
echo link seems fine..

I don't know if this is related to above, but I use the cop 48 command to
have my node automaticaly dial DTMF. It is fairly slow dialing though, and
could speed up a bit. Other than recording a wav file, converting it to
GSM, and playing that, is there a way to speed up the DTMF?
The issue is *why* is it so danged important to have the A-D keys decoded? security through obscurity? Because they are there on ham mics?

No one has really described a use case for why this artifact of the whole dtmf protocol is really needed. especially when, with the asterisk system, there is almost an unlimited functionality with using just the 10 digits bracketed by the star and octothorpe.
