<p dir="ltr">Maybe I should get off my but and write a article to post to the web. I get this question a lot.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Here is how I did it. There might be better ways to skin the cat but this way has worked just fine for me</p>
<p dir="ltr">You need a dedicated windows computer ( never tried linux) install zello and create a channel and create a account for your node.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Install a virtual audio cable program.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Install zoiper and create an account on your server. I just called my zello. Also set the account for VOX.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Now use zoiper to connect to your node and set your mic and speaker for the two virtual audio cables you've created.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Open zello sign in using your repeater account once signed, in join the channel you created.  Also password protect you channel.  I only gave access to people I know on a face to face basis. I get "outsiders" asking to use it but I have no true way knowing they are a ham. In zello set you mic and speaker for the opposite of what you set in zoiper. For example you feed the speaker into the mic and feed the mic into the speaker of zoiper. Basically cross the cables!</p>
<p dir="ltr">You may have to tweak the vox levels a bit. I set my repeater account to emit a beep at the end of a transmission this serves two purposes.  One we are using VOX so it acts like a Roger beep...Ya I know some of you are cringing but it's helpful in this application. We had users not know for sure if someone is still talking.  It also alerts out local user that the person is on zello.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I also installed VNC.</p>
<p dir="ltr">This has run perfectly flawless.  Maybe once a month I need to restart the computer but I do it thru VNC.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Zello has a much more "walkie-talkie" feel as a control operator it allows me to have channel recording and instant play back. </p>
<p dir="ltr">We also have a friend in the group who is the over the road truck driver. He uses a hands free head set and you can map the PTT.  So for him it works grest. Zoiper is a good program but just not as user friendly as zello for a more true "walkie-talkie" feel. I thought this setup was going to be hoakie but for the end user it is smooth and seamless. The one draw back is I still need to zoiper to control my repeater when out of RF range.</p>
