I can't speak to VPS, but I have been running a hub for quite a few years on VMware VSphere with good results. I'm running Debian 7.x and I compiled dahdi and Asterisk I don't know if you could do it with the version out of the repo, but give it a try.
Hello everyone
I am looking for guidance on how to setup just an allstar hub on my vps
its running Debian 7.5 and was curious could i in theory just install the
latest dsitro of Asterisk and plug the config files in to have a system hub
the reason for this is trying to cut down on bandwidth at the repeater site
and leave that for my VPS which has plenty of bandwidth to handle just
about what ever anyone wanted to throw at it..
