Correct me if I'm wrong, Isn't the question about using the AC97 on
board sound device in asterisk?<br>
For COS and PTT, yes the LPT port can be used.<br>

script editing to use a PC's LPT Printer Port as a "GPIO"
for COR, PTT, etc., could the Integrated Sound Card on the
Mobo (which is mostly AC97 Chips) be used for Audio In and
Out of the Computer? Running DIAL.<br>
