I think there is a jumper on the Tx card too that'll permanently enable it, I prefer to do it on the backplane.</span> </div><div><br></div><div>If I recall correctly the RF PA has an enable line that also needs to be tied low.</div><div> </div><div>The MSR2000 is complicated. It was designed by Motorola to do everything the Micor could do. The Micor did wireline control, paging, repeater, remote base operation, and much more. To change from one mode to another a pile of jumpers on the backplane and on the cards have to change. You need the manual. If you pull all the cards out there shouldn't be any audio or COR/PTT paths between the Rx and the Tx and the jumpers shouldn't matter at that point.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Also for power, what I like to do is take a 9.6V TO220 linear regulator and mount it to the backplane and use it to power the 9.6 volt circuits from the 12V input. Since the last time I have responded to this same question, some time<br>
ago, a lot has changed.<br>
Many flavors of computer hardware are supported including raspberry<br>
pi.<br>
I don't wish to advise you on what you should use but if I were you<br>
starting out, I think I would experiment a bit with a old PC running<br>
at 2ghz and 2gb ram<br>
with the ACID software found at <a href="http://allstarlink.org" target="_blank">allstarlink.org</a><br>
get to know the in's and out's before leaping into unfamiliar hardware<br>
that might add to the learning pain.<br>
<br>
You might state to the group what you intend to do with the system...<br>
ie remote mountain repeater or wide area voted system<br>
and perhaps someone will pick it up from there.<br>
<br>
Anyway, this is the place to ask questions to your problems.<br>

To interface it you'll need to make a cable and solder it to some pick off<br>
points.<br>
<br>
Attached is the drawing I made when wiring MSR2000's to controllers.<br>
<br>
All you need is an A&S (Audio and Squelch) card and a Station Control<br>
card. I don't use the "squelch card", as the squelch in the A&S card is<br>
superior.<br>
<br>
I like pin 8 on the A&S card for discriminator audio, pin 17 for muted<br>
de-emphasised audio<br>
Pin 20 on the A&S for COS (active hi). I typically soldered on a PNP<br>
transistor in the A&S card and pulled an open collector out to pin 5 for an<br>
active low COS line.<br>
<br>
Tx audio is on pin 11 of the squelch card.<br>
PTT (active low) is pin 7 of the Station Control Card.<br>

i have here and Baofeng 888 that has been mofify with a sound card and a Cheap Chinese Pi clone ,modified so it runs SVXLINK and Echolink.<br>

What if anything could cause your node to key up without you knowing about it?<br>
I check my node status and in 8 hours 15 mins. I have 285 keyups. Buy I happen to know that the node was only keyed up physically 15 times on that 8 hour window.<br>
So I don’t know where the 285 is coming from . So can a node key up without you knowing it?? If so where do I start looking for the problem . This has me confused.<br>

I would not get to excited about those stats David,<br>
<br>
I think you will find that while you are connected to some other node<br>
in the network that it counts every cos trigger of any connected node<br>
even if your node never drops out.<br>
So it's not just counting local cos triggers.<br>

The short answer to your Baofeng question is but a question itself<br>
since I'm not familiar with it...<br>

If it will work on any repeater, it will work. But one would need to<br>
question the stability and sensitivity of those products for use in a<br>
repeater.<br>
<br>
As you are new, I thought I might direct you to some terminology so<br>
you might ask the right questions the right way to get a accurate<br>
answer.<br>
And I'm not sure why this is not explained to newbies on any of the<br>
websites, perhaps it is and I have not seen it.<br>
<br>
Allstar is a network of repeater systems connected by software called<br>
app_prt which is a open source software riding on top of asterisk<br>
which is also a open source software of a VOIP telephone PBX.<br>
<br>
All of these software installations ride on top of various versions of<br>
the linux operating system.<br>
<br>
It is the app_rpt software that has interface to your radios.<br>
When you connect to the network, you are basically making a VOIP call<br>
to other stations via the asterisk PBX.<br>
So your first start (in my opinion) is to get a working model of the<br>
computer with software in operation, then worry about how to interface<br>
the radios.<br>
You have a lot to learn about this and lucky for you, many have worked<br>
hard to make it easier to get it started.<br>
But it does require some knowledge and will to do from many areas.<br>

This can be a frustrating adventure depending on your knowledge in<br>

Additionally, I should have mentioned this possibility to my last<br>

Not sure, but I think when you use the scheduler and issue commends<br>
through it,<br>
(like time announcements etc)<br>
it may trigger a count to the cos/key-ups.<br>
The reason I say that is in the software, I think the logical cos must<br>
be true to accept commends.<br>
But as I say, not sure. And I'm not sure it is all that important<br>
unless it's causing you a problem.<br>

What if anything could cause your node to key up without you knowing<br>
about it?<br>
I check my node status and in 8 hours 15 mins. I have 285 keyups. Buy<br>
I happen to know that the node was only keyed up physically 15 times<br>
on that 8 hour window.<br>
So I don’t know where the 285 is coming from . So can a node key up<br>
without you knowing it?? If so where do I start looking for the<br>
problem . This has me confused.<br>
