Robert,

There is no advantage to what you have proposed.  ASL as input to DMRGateway vs local microphone input to DMRGateway is the same.  So, just use ASL to link your local node at home to the Pi at your repeater site.

I assume the cheap little USB fobs we use for ASL would be OK?
