Virtualization won't change the base hardware architecture. If your system is G4, you will not be able to run an Intel-based OS in a VM. Vince, I am not sure if you can install it as a new operating system on your version of the Mac but I have Centos/AllStar running on a Mac Mini using Parallels in a Virtual Machine. It works great but it does add an extra level of complexity. If Parallels will work on your machine you should be able to do it.
