Do you have a node number? If not, you'll need to register for one. Once you have a node number. Login to your Raspberry Pi. 

You'll need to run asl-menu as root

repeater@ ----:~ $ sudo asl-menu

Just follow along.

It's much less effort to accomplish what you're trying to do using the DV Switch Android app. 

Could use the same headset with a usb on the go adapter or a Bluetooth headset. This is a proven approach.
