Hi Bryan,
 
 I am gen the file with a web base site which gives you a wav file.
 From there I am using SOX to convert the file to ULAW.
 
Some files seem to be so loud, you cant understand them. That is the reason I was hoping of a way to get asterisk to play the file instead of waiting on the timer. This way I can get the right audio setting..

if you're using audacity to gen the file, i've found that if you normalize the entire file to -5 dB and export as a ulaw, that it's pretty useable and clean.
