I've got this kind of setup here, and yes, there are some oddities in the audio, but it's something that can be tweaked.

Talking with Scott KB2EAR, it works. 1) audio sounds a bit harsh with
the chan_dstar driver. 2) the dstar people, at least down here get
their shorts in a wad that you're 'polluting' the purity of dstar by
deigning to bridge into 'inferior analog' signals.
