Thanks for the file path for the examples that helped a lot. Got my APRS question fix by that!

I did locate the rpt.conf file in /etc/asterisk but it did not have the line "duplex = 2" in it. So I went ahead and added duplex = 0 in the file. Funny it wasn't in the file to begin with.

I did locate the issue after all this. The adapter I purchased had a wire reversed in the plug. Rewired the RJ-45 and now it works!

rpt.conf is (should be) in the /etc/asterisk directory.  If for some reason it is not there look for a sample rpt.conf in /usr/src/astsrc/asterisk/configs/

I am not sure what percentage of users configure as repeaters vs. simplex nodes but maybe it would be a good idea to default this value to 0  or 1 as so many including myself get burnt by this. Also there should be a sentence about this in the quick install instructions.
