You do not need to pull down fresh source. If your upgrade updated the kernel headers, you can try:
AS root
cd /usr/src/
ls
you should see dahdi-complete
cd dahdi-complete
make
errors?
make install
reboot.

Ultimately I hope to run mmdvm on the same computer so future upgrades and replacing damaged modules this way would be handy. I've been around Linux some but I'm still learning and have a way to go. Also this is a full fledged computer and not a pi install.

A recompile of DAHDI may be all you need. I can't find the instructions at
the moment. Anyone have those handy?
