Just a FYI on this,

My experience has been that some ISP's that also provide phone service, seem to buger-up things on occasion.
I don't see much of that anymore.

More often now, hackers looking at/trying to exploit your ports is more to blame.
Automated scripts just sit there and try one exploit after the other. this can bring your router to a standstill for proper access.

It is very important to keep your system as secure as you can.
Changing the port you use for voip is a big help.Do the same for SSH.
If you open your system up for access from the outside, do so carefully, understanding what you are doing.
Many are looking to do crude things with voip systems.

All,
I have been having issues off and one for months and I swear that if I reboot my router a few times to get a new IP, the problem clears.
This time I decided to try something differnet to see if the ISP might be playing games or might be having issues with 4569.
I changed my UDP port 4569 to 14569 and bingo it registered immediately.
So if you might want to try that. There is something going on at least with my ISP I use in Colorado (Century Link) and I think this might be the fix.
Just passing along if you are also having issues.
Remember, you will need to change your port on the allstarlink portal and a couple of conf files. Anything with 4569 is what I changed to 14569

Subject: [App_rpt-users] iax2 registry issue

Hi All,

I am running Xipar release of asterisk and am new to asterisk.

I have been having issues with iax2 registration.  I can not figure out how to re-register the node.  The only thing that works is a reboot.

CLI> iax2 show registry

Host                  dnsmgr  Username    Perceived             Refresh  State
67.215.233.178:4569   N       29062       <Unregistered>             60  Timeout
67.215.233.178:4569   N       29061       <Unregistered>             60  Request Sent

CLI> iax2 show stats
    IAX Statistics
---------------------
Outstanding frames: 2 (0 ingress, 2 egress)
Packets in transmit queue: 0 dead, 0 final, 2 total

I can not connect to any other nodes until re-registered and get a "connection failed".

Thanks in advance,

Chris,  w0anm
