Thanks for the reply.. I've been playing around at the CLI prompt, and can get functions such as this to work:

rpt cmd 2211 cop 4 0

However, I still can't seem to control my parallel port I/O pins. I've followed all of the advice on

You do not have to assign a dtmf. 

Example: 
CLI> rpt cmd 2535 cop 1 0 

 The above command is a warm boot. 2535 is my node number. Notice the trailing 0 is needed to satisfy the command interpreter but has no meaning. 

Asterisk has command line help. Type "rpt cmd" and press enter will show options.
