I figured from looking at the source code that is what it does but cannot figure if it is useful or not. No docs found except the source contains a line something like it being able to work the DMK Engineering PiTA board. Can't find any docs on that either.

But if it can manipulate the Pi GPIO pins instead of using the CM108/119 pins it would be great...
