I use the controlstates stanza

In the default rpt.conf there is already a suitable control state

1 = rptena,lnkena,apdis,totdis,ufena,noice

totdis – as you might guess – means timeout timer disabled. You can look up the others.

At the end of the bulletin you revert the normal control state, typically this one

0 = rptena,lnkena,apena,totena,ufena,noicd ; Normal operation

As previously discussed, you should provide a function for killing the playback, in the event of some urgent need.
