I totally agree that what you did is clearly the sensible and expedient
way of accomplishing the task. I really dont have much guilt expecting
people to have or use such a thing.

However, I also acknowledge that it would be *nice*, certainly not
necessary, but *nice* to have the USB install as an option.
I do not know how to accomplish it at this time, and I have no
intention of spending the time to find out. However, if someone
*could* figure this out and "contribute" their wisdom (in the form
of an installable package, not just a list of perhaps vague instructions),
it would be of great benefit to everyone (at least potentially).

I have successfully installed onto both of my Dell Inspiron Netbooks model 1018, 1.66 Ghz processor, 2 GB of ram, and a 250 GB SATA II hard drive which I changed out for a 16 GB Solid State Hard Drive. Via a $12.00 external USB CD drive. I gave up on the USB stick method. No hang ups to report, installs went smooth.

Hello all! Well I am learning linux as we go, and can navigate my way around it pretty good now. My question is has anyone installed the acid.iso onto a netbook (no cdrom drive) yet? I am trying to install onto a Dell Inspiron mini 10, it has a 1.66 Ghz processor, 2 GB of ram, and a 16 GB Solid State Hard Drive. I have downloaded and installed the acid.iso file from the allstar website. I can get the install menu to come up, but I keep getting "error unable to download kickstart file". Anyone else tried doing this yet? The labtop is seeing the usb stick as /dev/sdb1, and I can see the files on there, just not sure where to point it to, to continue the install.
