Also, check that the port it's on is set to 10/half. The RTCM is very unforgiving of network misconfiguration and does not do auto negotiation.

I don't think that you said, but I will assume that you are using the Garmin GPS and that you have it located where it has a clear view of the sky and that you have it cabled correctly and with the correct settings, up to date firmware in the RTCM, etc...  Most likely IMHO, you have a network problem on your Ethernet or your network between your RTCM and your computer.  I have found that if there are lots of errors, collisions, re-transmissions and the such on the network, the RTCM just looses track of the GPS.  Fix the network problem and the GPS will mysteriously start working great.

Ok i've had pretty wide variation of replies.  When I see GPS drop and restore on the console it always indicates 10 satellites in view.  I'm assuming the RTCM is looking for 10.

For a 2D fix you need a minimum of 3 satellites
For a 3D fix you need a minimum of 4 satellites

Beyond this "more is better".

Does anyone know how many satellites are required for a good GPS lock.  I keep losing lock which is causing me to lose the system.
