That tells the system to load the usbradio module.I think it’s /etc/init.d/rc.asterisk that looks for it, but check that on a working system.

I presume this is just to put a zero length file marker at this location? Is this needed? What references this?

Does simple USB need to be a service in any derivative of app_rpt -  zaptel/dahdi ?
