From time to time we have had similar problems here. I think everyone does. Fortunately it is only occasionally. If you archive using Allstar the files are time and date stamped. All you need to know is an approximate time and you could find it. If it is something you want to forward to the FCC or some other agency they don't want to see text they want to hear the audio.

Most "sysops" make a big deal out of this because they think it is their tail that is going to get cited. I don't know of one case where that has actually happened. Actually in a multi-node connected system they would have no idea where the offense actually came from but someone on the network should know and be documenting it. As long as you report a particularly egregious offense I would say you are off the hook.

It also helps to not acknowledge the offense. Just go on with normal activity. If you acknowledge it that just entices them to do more but saying something like "the authorities have been notified" or "we have the coordinates and we are getting close" sometimes scares them away - use your imagination.

Yes Disk space is cheap and the audio is already being recorded.. My idea is to use the pre recorded audio every 30 seconds or so add the audio to text this is where certain key words can be filtered and therefore make it easier to search through all the hundreds of thousands of audio files a day i can get.. The key to the best audio to text programs is programming the system its self back in the day when we were dealing with Public safety not here in Southern IL but in a very large city they had a similar system however it was flawed because it was a closed source system my idea is to use open source audio to text based systems and see whether we can actually program it to be smart enough to accomplish this goal..   My need for this is growing since we have learned about a possible ham operator that has an expired license starting to talk on nearby repeaters so far I have been fortunate but having this system in place may allow me to be alerted via an email if certain key words are mentioned..

Disk space is cheap. Why not just record all the audio. If there is something you need to hear then play it back. Allstar has audio archiving built-in but it does save each transmission in a separate file which you could combine but it is a rather clumsy way to do it. Better to just use a voice recorder based on audio squelch on a PC off of an iaxrpt connection. There are a number of free packages out there that have audio squelch recording.

It depends what your ultimate goal is. Do you really want to hear everything or just have the capability to play back at a specific time if there is a problem.

Hey I was wondering has anyone ever done Audio to text for allstar node? I would like to have some thing like this put together on my repeater where it takes the recorded audio all together and transcribes it into text for each day than logs it..
