are you trying to connect to the server in ssh with root login?? did you enabled root login in sshd config?

About the audio out, what output did he used? LEFT? RIGHT? usb fob or uri-x or rim ? you can check in usbradio.conf to see wich one as voice or composite. this could help..

All went well until the radio-tune-menu. Step 1 OK. Step 2 OK, plenty of noise level and squelch set. Step 3 – set rx voice level – there is no level at all, no matter what number I use.
