I have been with IRLP from almost the start , I have had no problem with Dave or any of the crew
I agree with radio to radio system , there are pros and cons
I would not put echo link on my repeater because of the computer interface for a long time , it's sorta there now , have to put it back on line
I also run a mototrbo system (DMR )
We need allstar because of the RF link system has gone by the waste side ( was told the owner of the hardware has no interest in keeping the network up any more ) so a number of nets like canwarn has moved to allstar , we need to be connected in one form or another
Support for IRLP is GREAT , support for DMR is GREAT, support for Echolink is good ,
Support for allstar , lacking in a lot of spots I would have tossed it if it was not for a couple good people on this mailing list
My point being the website is out of date , links are dead and point to sites for sale
And really hard to find info, If I m wrong in my views ok,
I find the portal GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!! I just wish there was a read me for it so that when you get lost you have something to read and figure out what the heck you did
I really believe all the VoIP systems have there pros and cons , I don't like d star and will never install a node , no real need to spend that kind of money , there is a node in the area and it does not get a great amount of use , so why bother
The pro I can see for this system is I will provide access to my repeater , and if the club in the city wants a node I will do it for them as they don't have net access, and it's a short hop from my repeater site to there's , so no problem for me , I will even by the extra interface and use one of my spare radios to link to them
This is a learning curve for me but happy to do it, and help a fellow club
Btw our group has 2 members , we cover all costs our self , and ask nothing from anyone
We run a total of 6 repeaters in different modes and freq.
So I thank every one for there help in getting the 1st node up and running then move to the 2nd node
instead of connecting a radio to your usb sound device connect it to your irlp node

should have mentioned, allstar is far superior to irlp and there is no allstar natzi out there YET
if you like allstar as much as I do, there is an orange button on the allstarlink.org site "ding ding"
I dont know any of the software guys, I just appreciate what they have created

Plug in your URI, RIM, or usb sound device and you will see it pop up on the linux screen
as [root@~] radio-tune-menu
the radio tune menu will allow you to setup your sound devices provided your .conf files are correct
ACID is a repeater controller if you have 2 URIs or RIMs you can bridge your IRLP node
beside IRLP configured on an ACID install had some audio level issues. Not sure about
Xipar but it also had configs for IRLP. I only tested it on ACID
p.s. Scott I noticed you seen the publicizing for the RIM

How will I know if it works after I plug it in ? Is there a script that I need to run it install it
I am finding the docs out of date or not there at all (some links are dead like for the 4 port card)
I know IRLP is not supported any more , sad as I run an IRLP node , and would have liked to run all 3 networks on one computer , to save a port for the 220 repeater

I don't know the device but if it has a CM108 or CM119 chip it will.
Personally, I use startech sound fobs. They're easily modifiable
using surface mount components and they're reliable. URI's are very
good, but have my eye on the RIM as it has advantages over the URI.

At the least you have success. It takes about 10 minutes or less, when you first boot
before your node reports to all the other on-line nodes. Some of my nodes
use a static IP and others DHCP with reserved address. Let us all know how things
work out for you.

I now have what I think is a working system ,
For some reason it fails if I put in a static IP , but if I run with DHCP it finds the mic and runs
If I tell it to pull down the info from the server for he node it dies
I need it on a static IP for port fowarding , just like my other VoIP systems
And I did do the info on the web portal to the best I can, I entered in all the info it requested
I even got to install your device now , this will be here Tuesday because of our long weekend

I thought you were past that point and sitting at the test prompt
If you completed the ACID install and got the test prompt
the password is 'setup'
once your in root type passwd and change it
nodesetup.sh will run the script to push your node config files from the allstar server to
your node "provided you created and saved the files prior to your ACID installation"

You "must" do a CD BURN to the ISO for it to work properly, low speed is best for older CD ROM.
