Thanks again Mike,   The issue with the web Transceiver is the use of JAVA.   Most machines will not run JAVA any longer because of the blizzard of security issues.
Hopefully someone will write a transceiver that does not use JAVA.

If you are looking to connect to nodes on the allstar network from your pc, use the
web transceiver. That is what it was built for.

To set  iaxrpt up with a specific node outside of your nat, that node would need to
set-up a path through their firewall to their nat.

iaxrpt was made for local network/nat. Not that it can't be conscrewed to do
otherwise. But that requires specific set-up for the path for each willing
participant. It is merely a "phone extension" as a iax software interface attaching
to a pre-described iax port in asterisk.

Thanks Mike,    I was trying to know if I can obtain this information for another
station (other than my own)  on the node list.
Say for example I want to use the iaxRpt client on my computer to connect to a node
far way like one of the Alaska nodes, is there a way to discover the settings for
that station to create an account is iaxRpt ?

Thanks for any help on this.  -Dan KM6HK

Hostname = local ip or host name

User & pass = whatever you set-up in iax.conf
ex:

[gui]
type=user
context=radio-gui  ;user
username=gui
auth=md5
secret=PASS       ;pass
host=dynamic
disallow=all
allow=gsm
notransfer=yes

Hope it helped a little.

I am not a guru on AllStar so need help on the obvious:

How do I obtain the following information for any given node on the system for
configuration of iaxRpt client? :

For iaxRpt I need:

      1;)  How do I obtain the IP address for any given node on the system?
2.) The host is IPaddress, right ?
3.) Username for that system
4.) Password for that system

For example, I am trying to configure iaxRp client t and need to know the
information and the host / username / password

From my own system I can get this dump:
Can I get this from any given user on the system -or-
Can I assume that  “allstar-public” with password of “allstar” is
universally installed ??
