I generally will stay out of things of this nature, but I'm not so sure why there is a push to move app_rpt to a later version of Asterisk? I see the version of Asterisk that's running app_rpt as purpose built to do what it does, act as a repeater controller and linking system and a few other things. There are some general specific applications in the app_rpt version of Asterisk that I could care less about using, so if it's older code and doesn't have as many features I'm not really missing anything. My production PBX is the place to use those features instead.

I can't fault folks for wanting to progress technology, that is afterall what this should be all about, but I guess I don't see the appeal of jumping to a newer version of Asterisk and making app_rpt work with it just because it's newer code. What exactly does it gain for us? Is it the spark and the challenge of doing it is what's driving this? (which I completely understand mind you).
